Description: Created in response to a walk that had incorporated heathland, the shore and the unexpected path through these marsh-bound trees. From the expansive views towards Poole Harbour, the open sound of the heathland and swish of boots through heather it felt as though the route back to the sand dunes suddenly enclosed. A parallel hedgerow of stunted, twisted trees growing eerily from pools of blackened seemingly brackish water, which sharply reflected a dull grey sky and were framed in uneven clumps of grasses, muffled all sound. The somewhat eerie and unsettling experience of being inexplicably and physically drawn towards the tangled pools is reflected in the limited palette and layers of textured marks of these two paintings.
