PRODUCT DETAILS

This is for me, personally, the most important piece in the Motheaten Hierarchies series. It is the one that resonates most with all the unspoken sentiment in my heart, the emotion behind what I am trying to convey.

This jacket is from 1930’s France, it was handmade for a child and is full of wear and tear, moth holes and sun-bleaching.
When it and its partner arrived in the post I was moved to tears. I thought about the child who wore it, a French child who would have been about 7 or 8 at the time, and what became of them when France was wracked and ransacked.
And this is where I find it hard to eloquently convey my thoughts.

So, I’ve mended the jacket, visibly mended it with a bee fly where once there was a hole. I’ve given it some love, cleaned it and protected it.

This framed piece measures 647mm wide by 660mm high. The framing is just perfection with museum quality glass.

This be purchased as part of the OWN ART scheme, a national initiative that makes buying contemporary art and craft affordable by providing interest-free loans for the purchase of original work.
