A watergram is a cameraless photographic technique which captures light and moving water on silver gelatin. Siân has explored and pushed the boundaries of this technique through study at The School of Light in Los Angeles, and then through further experiments from her home in Somerset.
This piece was made in the darkroom, using the water itself as a collaborator. The resulting image reminded the artist of the surface of the moon, and the role that the celestial body plays on the oceans of our planet. The original photographic image was cut into the shape of a circle to represent the moon’s connection to our life-giving water.
