Watergram

A watergram is a cameraless photographic technique which captures light and moving water on silver gelatin. Siân has explored and pushed the boundaries of this technique through study at The School of Light in Los Angeles, and then through further experiments from her home in Somerset.
This piece was made in the darkroom and was exposed to light twice, capturing two separate patterns made by the water. The result resembled the rings and grain of a tree, and so the artist cut the original photograph out into the shape of a dissected trunk, highlighting the interdependence and interconnectedness of all elements in Nature.
