AK2 Merlin

This handsome Merlin is the UK’s smallest bird of prey. During the summer months merlin’s breed in our uplands, in the winter months the falcon leaves its upland breeding area, often frequenting saltmarshes, where it hunts small birds. In winter, the UK population increases as most of the icelanbdic breeding birds migrate to our warmer climate.
