A single Polaroid emulsion lift onto St Cuthbert's Mill paper. The image depicts a tree growing out of the shingle at Porlock Marsh. The tree on this beach survives against the odds, emerging through the unexpected ground and battling the rise and fall of the sea around it. I used the limited edition Reclaimed Blue Polaroid film on an antique camera to capture the image, the blue tones of the film highlighting the tree's watery existence. The image is also a double exposure, with a faint second exposure of ocean ripples just visible, again highlighting the unusual maritime nature of this survivor.
