This is from the third FIFTY BEES exhibition and is the Painted Mining Bee. It’s built into a small, very colourful silver pot with semi precious stones. It was made using wool which was needlefelted then stitched with vintage embroidery thread and gold thread.
It is a widespread species but not common and occurs in a variety of habitats with blossom-rich woods moorland edge. Sometimes can be found high up in Dartmoor and the Scottish Highlands.
