An Embroidered Leather Notebook Workshop with Hannah Brown Thursday 10th July 10am – 4pm

Join bookbinder Hannah Brown for a hands-on, creative journey into the basics of embroidery on leather for bookbinding.
You can add very attractive surface decoration, texture and colour to bindings with simple techniques such as applying coloured leather onlays and sewn detail, both of which will be taught over this day course.

The day will start by making an embroidery sampler to test out different stitches. The stitches you learn can then be used to decorate the cover of a single section notebook with a wraparound leather cover. From embroidered outlines to fully appliquéd sections, different stitches can be utilised to great effect to build up a design.

Hannah will provide you with the materials kit for what you need on the day. This will be £12 and we ask that you pay Hannah directly on the day with cash. Thanks.

The kit will include:
- Cartridge paper for the pages of the book
- 2 x patterned endpapers
- Linen for the spine
- Buttons
- Ribbon for sewn-in bookmarks
- Embroidery and cotton threads for the sewn detail on the cover
- Bookbinding thread for sewing the pages together
- Tracing paper
- A piece of bookbinding leather for cover
- Thinner leather for decorative elements on the cover
