JHo1 Veined copper vessel with navy and gold vitreous enamel. Elevated on a heat-treated oak base.

Small scale, unique and individually made. Formed from flat sheets of copper and then planished. With high attention given to each stage of the making process to make sure each piece is pleasing to the eye.

I use vitreous enamel suspended in water which is called wet process enamel, these lend themselves to using the sgraffito method of scratching back a design through the enamel before firing in the kiln, the process is then repeated using different colours and designs until the desired design is achieved.

I regard each piece as an exploration of form, colour and design.

I use wood bases to enhance my work, varying in type and size. Each piece is carefully considered and made individually and by hand.
